Q: Can I submit an application by mail or email directly to the Foundation?

A: No. All applications must be submitted through the online portal.

Q: What is the deadline for our grant application?

A: All completed applications must be submitted by 11:59 pm PST on Thursday, February 29, 2024.

Q: What is the deadline for the Letter of Interest for new applicants?

A: All completed letters of interest must be submitted by 11:59 pm on Thursday, February 29, 2024.

Q: Can I save and go back to my application before submitting?

A: Yes, you can save a draft of your work if you would like to finish filling out the form at a later date. Please pay close attention to instructions on the form and word or character limitations for short and long answer questions. If you need to make changes to your submitted application, please withdraw your submission and resubmit. If anything changes with the information you submitted, please request to edit the submission.

Q: Can I work on the application with more than one person?

A: Yes, the online system is set up for you in invite collaborators on your application (eg. your Finance Director has the financials we request to be submitted with your application). They will need to create a free Submittable account to work on the application with you. 

Q: Is there a word count limit on narrative questions?

A: Yes, each question will specify the word count limit in the bottom right corner. We recommend using another program such as Word and then copy and paste to ensure you do not exceed the word count limit. 

Q: How do I know if my organization is eligible?

A: Eligible organizations offer organized youth athletic programs in at least one of the 9 Bay Area Counties, serving youth ages 5 - 18. Please refer to our grant application guidelines for details on eligibility or contact Foundation Staff

Q: Do you make grants to individuals?

A: No. We only fund organizations with 501(c)(3) status.

Q: Do you fund unified school districts?

A: The OCF does not fund proposals submitted directly by Unified School Districts. However, we do fund programs that are serving students in the Unified School District through third party organizations with 501(c)(3) status such as a booster club, public foundation, etc. Please contact us if you have any questions.

q: How long does it take to approve a grant?

A: The entire application vetting and approval process generally takes 6-7 months. Please refer to our Grant Application Calendar for specific dates. 

q: I have a question that is not answered in these FAQs and/or would like to meet with someone to discuss my application. What should I do?
